SAS sandals may be ugly, but I just ran my second time this first week back to school and it felt great. I've watched other teachers hobble along in pain in their cute shoes while I'm bouncing here and there in my squishy shoes. Women really need to put their foot down (nice Kurt pun, huh!) and demand that comfortable shoes are the cute sexy ones!
Forgot to post that I ran/walked 3.4 miles Monday night and then I just finished 3.4 tonight. I also dragged a very neurotic dog an additional .9 mile walk...not much exercise there, though! I'm adding more running than walking each time so it's coming along.
Purpose of this blog
For years my favorite motto has been "use it or lose it". It applies to so many different areas of life, but the main way that I think of this motto, though, is with exercise and getting old. I am 48 and supposedly on the "downhill" side of life. For the last 5 years I have exercised a good amount. I trained and participated in the BP MS 150 for 4 years and did my first half marathon last March. I lived my motto and felt stronger and better than I did in my twenties. So...the big question is, why did I give it all up and stop exercising for the last four months??? I have all kinds of aches and pains and definitely feel older than when I was exercising.
I would like to do several half marathons early next year and need to start from scratch getting back into shape. I'm hoping this blog will be my motivation to get back into shape...it will chronicle the struggle of someone who "lost it" and is trying to get "it" back. Hopefully others will join in the battle to gain strength and get a general well-being back into their lives! :)
