I actually did go running last week a couple times at night (3.4 miles)...getting apathetic about posting (and running!). I realize I need a goal in order to keep up with the exercise. Am looking into the Davy Crockett Bear Chase Half Marathon on April 9th. That will give me enough time to get back in shape without hurting myself. Why oh why are they not doing the Armadillo Dash this year??? It was very convenient!
Ran 4 miles yesterday...over 2 miles without stopping and then ran/walked the rest. I've been very thirsty so it's been difficult to keep running with such a dry mouth.
Ditto run for today. Both days felt pretty good.
Purpose of this blog
For years my favorite motto has been "use it or lose it". It applies to so many different areas of life, but the main way that I think of this motto, though, is with exercise and getting old. I am 48 and supposedly on the "downhill" side of life. For the last 5 years I have exercised a good amount. I trained and participated in the BP MS 150 for 4 years and did my first half marathon last March. I lived my motto and felt stronger and better than I did in my twenties. So...the big question is, why did I give it all up and stop exercising for the last four months??? I have all kinds of aches and pains and definitely feel older than when I was exercising.
I would like to do several half marathons early next year and need to start from scratch getting back into shape. I'm hoping this blog will be my motivation to get back into shape...it will chronicle the struggle of someone who "lost it" and is trying to get "it" back. Hopefully others will join in the battle to gain strength and get a general well-being back into their lives! :)
